The government is launching a Child Funeral Fund on the 23rd July 2019. In essence all burials for still births (24 weeks and over) up-to the age of 18 will be paid for by the government. There are some expenses that will also be allowed but we are awaiting clarity on that aspect.
This fund is NOT means tested and therefore open to all.
The fund is being administered by the Ministry of Justice and not DWP. This is completely different to the Social Fund that the DWP operate. The process from date of submission to payment is approximately 20 days and can be applied by the family or the funeral director .
